Urban Future 2025 in Łódź, Poland: An Unforgettable Experience

This year marked my first time attending the Urban Future Conference in Łódź, Poland, and it was truly an unforgettable experience.
The event brought together passionate individuals from around the world who are dedicated to shaping the future of our cities through sustainability, innovation, inclusion, and groundbreaking ideas. It was inspiring to see so many people committed to creating a greener, more equitable urban environment.

I was invited to support a dear friend, Adetayo ‘Tutipsy’ Manuwa, as a Creative Project Manager. Adetayo was there to present his innovative idea, "How Music and Dance Found Me a Home." His project, "One Community Project," which has already earned recognition through a German Federal Award, aims to foster community and belonging between the old and young through music, arts, and culture. The presentation was heartwarming and resonated deeply with everyone in the room.

What made his keynote particularly special was the unique approach we took. Instead of a traditional speech, I played the piano live during his talk, creating an ambient soundscape that complemented his message. It was a different experience for me, far from my usual concert performances, but the effect was truly magical. The blend of spoken word and live music created an immersive atmosphere that captivated the audience and brought his story to life in a profound way.

One of my key takeaways from the conference is simple yet powerful: wherever you find yourself, try to make it your home. Each of us has the potential to contribute meaningfully to society, regardless of circumstances or background. It’s about creating a sense of belonging and working together toward a better, more inclusive future.
As I reflect on this inspiring experience, I’m already looking forward to UF26 in Ljubljana. Until then, I carry the energy and insights from Łódź with me, eager to continue contributing to the positive transformation of our cities and communities. A big thank you to the City of Łódź for the warm welcome, as well as to the organizers.

See you in Ljubljana!
